Princess Mary’s Gift Book Circa 1914 A wonderful early charity book with “All Profits on Sale Given to the Queen’s “Work For Women” Fund” The book contains a large collection of original stories and illustrations by eminent and leading figures including such authors as: J.M. Barrie (author of Peter Pan) Arthur Conan Doyle (author of Sherlock Holmes) Rudyard Kipling (author of The Jungle Book) Baroness Orczy (author of The Scarlet Pimpernel) And others… And some illustrators such as: C.E. Brock E.J. Detmold Arthur Rackham Edmund Dulac Gordon Browne And others… Very rare to have such a collection of eminent authors and illustrators to appear in one volume The above are contained in the publisher’s original white boards with blind stamped decoration and Princess Mary’s coat of arms to the top board and titling in dark green to the front and spine. The boards are in Very Good condition with some dust staining and very slight bowing to the top board. Very attractive set of boards The Frontispiece is of the beautiful Princess Mary with facsimile signature and opposite is a message from Princess Mary on printed Buckingham Palace stationary, again with a facsimile signature There are 140 numbered pages containing 20 short stories which are in overall Very Good condition with foxing confined to the edges A beautiful, collectable and highly desirable book dating from the First World War
